Backwell Festival always offers a range of creative and inspirational children’s entertainment! Here’s a taste of what’s on offer this year! Children’s tickets just £12 for the weekend, Under 3’s free but still need a ticket.

* Cost of all is included in the entrance ticket, but please donate into our charity buckets if you are having a good time!

Scheduled workshops like drama and singing will have limited numbers, so the spaces
will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
12.30: Theatre company, INKBLOC ensemble, will

Circus Skills with the Invisible Youth wing of Invisible Circus all weekend, includes the tight wire, object manipulation and trapeze (Trapeze is Sunday afternoon only NB Please bring leggings or tracksuit bottoms – you will not be able to do the workshop if you are wearing a skirt or dress).

These amazing performers, who are part of the incredible Arcadia spectacular, will also treat us to a special aerial show on Sunday afternoon. Expect to be delighted and amazed!

Drama Workshop with Amy Kemp of INKBLOC Ensemble. Amy will be taking two workshops at our Tent Stage on Saturday lunchtime. Spaces are limited and we will be taking bookings for this workshop soon. She will be supported by actors from INKBLOC who open Backwell Festival with their show, Lego Beach, on the Friday evening at 19.30.

Singing Workshop with Piri Utiz on Sunday afternoon for children aged 0 -5 with parents and 5+ without parents. Spaces are limited, they will be taken on a first come first served basis.

Spin Bike Painting all weekend – Join APE Project on their amazing pedal powered tandem tricycle spin painting machine. Make beautiful and totally unique exploding paintings, working in partnership with other children on this cooperative creative contraption. Suitable for all ages and abilities.  Based at Windmill Hill City Farm, Guy and Rachel have developed novel ways to link Art, Play and the Environment.

Miss PopularityBalloon Entertainerall weekend. This bubbly, sassy balloon artist spreads joy one balloon at a time. Running workshops Saturday and Sunday, showing off her art in a very special show and going walkabout through the festival – you won’t miss her! She creates elaborate and visually stunning balloon models that put a smile on everyone’s face.

Get Arty all weekend with LitterARTI    Back by popular demand, LitterARTI take us deep under the sea this year with their Ocean Wonders workshops set on a magical tropical island. Annali and Eduardo help you make beautiful underwater creatures and musical instruments from recycled materials while having a chat about how we need to save our Oceans at the same time. LitterARTI helped INKBLOC ensemble make the whale for their LEGO Beach performance at our Tent Stage on Friday evening.

Meadowsideall weekend – supervised play area with lots of activites for the pre-schoolers.

Storyteller Michael Loader – Saturday – Michael may just be popular with adults too! His performance will tap into our Oceans theme. Director of the Somerset Storyfest, Michael has also had storytelling residencies with Natural England, the BRI Children’s Hospital, Brewhouse in Taunton and St George’s in Bristol.

And Michelle Cassar, Creative Director of environmental campaign charity, City to Sea, will be reading her tale of environmental superheroes, ‘The Adventures of Seb and Polly Planet. A Solution to Plastic Pollution.’  The perfect way to encourage the next generation to save our planet!
